Truind – A Walk in to the clouds

Truind trek is one of the beautiful and moderate treks you can do when you have a plan to visit Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh state of India. It is situated in Kangra district standing at the peak of 9350 ft which having the trail path around 6km. You need just two days to plan to visit this serene beauty in Mcleod Ganj. The trek is offering a spooky vibe where you literally fall in love with mother nature by witnessing unique flora and fauna.

Apart from Truind there are a lot of things to explore in and around Dharmshala. It is famous for Tibetan culture and temples which attracted a lot of tourists abroad. Dharamshala, Dharamkot and Mcleod Ganj are the nearest place where you can go for a walk and explore its unique hippy vibe. There are some easy treks other than Truind which you can complete within hours that take you to the nearest forests and waterfalls. Many hostels, hotels, and guest houses are available at cheap prices to continue your stay in these places.

When to visit?

The best time to visit here is March to May and September to December. It will be closed in January and February due to heavy snowfall.
June and July are less preferable due to rainfall.

How to get there?

Gaggal airport or Kangra airport is the one you need to head if you have a plan to go by air.
Pathankot is the nearest and preferable railway station to Truind.
If you coming from south of India or abroad you need to reach either Chandigarh or Delhi to get there.
From there you need to head Dharamshala by Volvo or bus which takes one night and then to Mcleod ganj.
There are many ways to start the trek from there depends on your mood. Galu is the most preferred base camp to start the trek or you can head to Truind from Mcleod ganj itself. The other way starting from Bagsu waterfall through shiva cafe is the other option to head Truind. If you are getting confused you can ask the direction to any person who resides there once you reach Mcleod ganj and they tell you the best way according to your preference.

 

There are many agencies in online you can book for camping in Truind. If you book through an agency you do not need to worry about food and other stuff.
Since the trails are rocky and steep you should use trekking shoes to make your journey hassle-free.

Weekends will be more crowded than weekdays. Prefer on weekdays if possible.
